Here is how the work lines up. Archival preservation sits at the end of the post pipeline. But it is the step that drives whether a production stays open and economically valuable a decade from now. New York is unusual in carrying both the heaviest cluster of commercial work in the US and a deep body-level preservation culture — the NY Public Library Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, the Schomburg Center in Harlem, the Paley Center for Media in Midtown, and the MoMA Film Department all keep active moving-image archives, and the tech standards they set inform how the commercial post houses way long-term storage.

Here is the layout. Our team lines up preservation masters at PostWorks New York, Technicolor PostWorks NY, Light Iron NY, and Goldcrest Post Production, with LTO-9 and LTFS pipelines running alongside cloud cold-storage tiers at AWS Glacier or Azure Archive so each production ships with both an offline tape master and a geographically backup digital copy.

Here is how the work shapes up. For commercial features destined for re-release, anniversary screenings, or new area deals, and for episodic series moving between licensing windows on HBO, Netflix, Apple TV+, or Amazon Studios, we keep preservation masters at full bit depth in ProRes 4444 XQ or uncompressed DPX alongside the finished IMF and DCP packages.

Here is how it adds up. Metadata is captured against MovieLabs and AMPAS ACES schemas, checksum check is run at ingest and on a recurring integrity-check cadence, and format-migration plans are mapped against LTO generational compatibility so content stays readable as the tape standard evolves from LTO-9 toward LTO-10 and beyond. Productions tied to NYS Film Tax Credit deliverables also receive a records package fit for Empire State Development audit trails. Master elements heading to body-level preservation can be prepared to the tech specs the NYPL Performing Arts, MoMA, or Museum of the Moving Image accept for permanent collection ingest.
