Documentaries & Docuseries

Documentary and docuseries production in New York draws on a deep research base. It runs from the New York Public Library Performing Arts collection at Lincoln Center and the Schomburg Center in Harlem to the Museum of the Moving Image archive in Astoria, the Brooklyn Historical Society, and Columbia's Oral History project. The network news libraries at NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox round it out. Our team backs global documentary crews and US-based projects across the city, and DOC NYC is the largest documentary festival in the country.

The production base here moves between Killer Films, A24's nonfiction strand, the HBO Documentary Films team at Hudson Yards, Showtime Documentary Films, Netflix NY originals, Amazon Studios and Apple TV+ at their New York offices. Crews scale from a verite shooter trailing a single subject through the Bronx up to large ENG units. Those units stage interviews at the UN headquarters, City Hall, the New York Stock Exchange, or rooftop spots across Manhattan and Long Island City.

Subject access drives the work. Projects on Wall Street, criminal justice, hip-hop history, the post-9/11 city, immigration through Ellis Island and JFK, the art world, or modern politics need trust that builds months before the camera arrives. Our fixers handle community liaisons in Harlem, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. They broker interviews with academics at Columbia, NYU, the New School, CUNY and Fordham, and they set up access with institutions such as the FDNY, NYPD, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney, and the Federal Reserve.

Production runs through the NYS Film Tax Credit, with the 30 percent base plus a 10 percent NYC uplift on qualifying spend. We also handle NYC MOME Made in NY permits and IATSE Local 600 cinematographers East for camera crews. Post planning handles archive clearance with NBCUniversal Archives, ABC News VideoSource and Getty, plus festival finishing for Tribeca, DOC NYC, NewFest and the global circuit.
